Anxious to broaden your storefront’s reach and begin shipping internationally. Our partners at ShipStation have provided a free checklist to get you started.

Over the past couple months, we’ve offered some tips on how you can get started with shipping internationally. But, just like any change in how you run your business, it’s easy to get lost in the details. Luckily, we’ve compiled a few high points to make sure you can tick all the boxes and get started on the right foot.

It all starts with your planning phase: figuring out which products you want to sell internationally, where you can ship your products, and to where you actually where sell your goods. Back in August, we went over our top 5 tips on how to get started. Need a refresher? Check the post out here.

Then, there’s the other side of the transaction: how will you price your shipping options? How will you handle returns, if at all? What about the taxes & fees associated with shipping your goods overseas? You have a few decisions you’ll need to make about expanding internationally. Last month, we gave you a step-by-step for pricing your international shipping; check it out here.

Once you have the planning phase and most of the decision-making done, you still have a couple things to get 100% set up. You’ll need to also work with your carriers, in addition to figuring out what you need for your customs forms. Luckily, there are a few resources, including shipping software, that can help get you started and even help to automate some of the process for you.
