During National Small Business Week and every week, we recognize and thank you for your important contributions to the nation.

Whether you’re a small employer or a sole proprietor, the Small Business Health Options Program (SHOP) can help you find health coverage for yourself and your employees.

Find out how the SHOP Marketplace can help your small business.

How to get health coverage if you have 50 or fewer employees

If you have 50 or fewer full-time equivalent employees, the SHOP Marketplace offers you a choice of plans and tools to help you make informed decisions.

Enroll in SHOP coverage at any time throughout the year, using an agent, broker, or insurance company that offers SHOP Qualified Health Plans. Just choose your state and we’ll help you get started. If you have questions, call 1-800-706-7893 (TTY: 1-800-706-7915), Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. ET. Agents and brokers may also use this number.

Remember, small businesses with fewer than 50 employees aren’t required to purchase employee coverage. If you choose not to purchase, there’s no penalty.

How to get health coverage if you’re a sole proprietor or self-employed

If you’re a sole proprietor or self-employed with no employees, you and your spouse can enroll in coverage through the Health Insurance Marketplace for individuals and families. Open Enrollment is over and starts again on November 15, 2014 for 2015 coverage. Learn about your health insurance options outside of Open Enrollment.
